That is one rough Bimmer. That paint is faded to hell, the interior is okay, andthe engine bay could use a good cleaning; mechanically sketchy, but If price was no object, NP. But because someone would have to put more than 3x the amount they spent on the car to restore it(at least to daily driver status), CP.

CP, you'll need to dump a lot of money into it to make it worth anything in that condition. Non M sixers aren't exactly commanding top dollar either. I'd hold out and look for something in better shape for probably in the ballpark of 5-6k

That's more of a $1200-1500 car imo. Once it's fixed up it would certainly sell for more.

Seats alone are worth probably $500 if the motors work. Front apron is a few hundred as long as it's not cracked. It looks in decent shape, though $1,800 might be a touch high given its condition. Get more photos!
Here's a good buyer's guide. A couple things I can think of:
-The M30B34 is a good platform, and damn near bulletproof. Light ticking isn't a deal-breaker
-Does the odometer work? The gears are plastic and bound to fail. Quick, cheap fix though
-Is the amber INSPECTION light on? If so, it's an easy fix to reset, but if it stays on the Service Indicator board batteries are toast. It's $200 for a new board, though a quick swap
-If you can, jack up the rear and see if it's got an LSD diff. It should have "3.46" stamped into the service tag attached to one of the cover bolts (meaning 3.46:1 gear ratio). If it also has an S after the number, it's LSD. You can also spin a wheel - if the other spins the same direction, it's LSD (opposite or not at all means open diff).
-Smell gas in the cabin? It may be the in-tank fuel pump gasket (pretty easy) or high-pressure fuel pump (a bitch to get to).
-How do the brakes feel? If it feels like there's a delay when you brake, the 'brake bomb' is going. If it fails, no brakes.
-5-speed swaps aren't that horrible, from what I understand. A buddy of mine has done several.
